One Night Veronica felt a sinking feeling after anouther failed attempt to recieve and send telepathically to Sean

Sean and Veronica Lecture Transcript

Um, we’re Sean and Veronica and we are in a telepathic relationship. Most nights we set aside an hour for telepathic practice. During the first 20 minutes Veronica sends and I receive we then swap roles and when the session is over we email each other a report of the experience.

We are in somewhat of an altered state after the telepathy and the texts read as a sort of stream of consciousness as well as an attempt to sift through all the crap in our heads in an attempt to locate the telepathic exchange. The texts end up sounding a lot like the way people speak when they recount a dream, a strange situation of absolute certainty applied to a completely imaginary proposition. Here is a sample text that Sean emailed me after an early telepathic session.

I turned off all the lights and lay down on my back with my hands by my side. I focused my consciousness on firstly a single white rose with a leaf. I was imagining sending this rose to Veronica slowly through space. On the rose was a single ant that walked up from the stem onto the white petals. I then added a rainbow flavoured lollipop beside the rose and imagined sending this too. It was about the 10 minute mark that i started to experience a hot sensation in my face and the back of me head. I couldnt say if it was physical or mental. I kept on imagining what a rose looked like and how this one appeared to me. What it felt like. What it was like to smell. How Veronica would hold it. Around this time I added one more object into what i was imagining. This time it was the word "chain". Again i spelled out the word chain and imagined what its physical properties were. i found it difficult to decide whether i should be imagining sending Veronica these signals or whether she would come to me. Maybe the warm face sensations were Veronica coming to me. This was Veronica’s response:

I lay down on my bed with the lights off and my eyes closed and concentrated on trying to look out, through my minds eye. The space I 'saw' was dark and yet full of movement and a glittery sort of softness. I felt that an image from you was just below or to the side of me, like moving through a winding tunnel with the light somewhere ahead of me. I had a sense of a bronze locket or a belt buckle with a rope or chain passing through it. Also tweezers or drum sticks. However, the overriding and lasting impression of you sending to me was an image of your face and you calling my name. At first I thought that this was just me thinking about you but I wonder if instead this is the telepathic exchange and I almost missed it in its simplicity.

For us these texts articulate well all the wonder and romance and wishful possibilities that Veronica and I are beginning to engage with. Our study of scientific and esoteric texts to do with telepathy have all proposed that a telepathic relationship works best between people who care deeply about one another. With this in mind we began to harness whatever feelings existed between us and begin the construction of a truly caring relationship.

The principle space for the growing of our relationship is the Internet and hence it is a relationship that is firmly rooted in language. But our study of psychoanalytic texts teaches us that language makes us all neurotic because of all the double meanings and its lack of any real relationship with what it signifies. Moreover we are aware of the way the unconscious uses metaphor and metonymy to slip repressed desires through these faultlines in language. With this in mind we are constantley examining our texts for slips of the pen that might indicate unconcious desires for each other.

To stay with the language theme, I was inspired to write some poems for Veronica that I posted on my blog.

I was so touched by this that I asked Sean to commit and declare this affection more publicity by writing it on the wall of our shared work space for all to see. Which he did. Sean will now read you his poem:

Desperate Control
Clutching onto her alone
Otherwise its over
I'm terrified with saddened attempts
Iv'e made myself so sick again
Her source is endless brightness
and irons me out gently

I will go deeper

We would like to finish our talk today with a short exert from one of our first attempts at illustrating our telepathic relationship so as to be able to share it with other people.

Last night Sean and Veronica compiled a list of equivoques (don’t know the English word for this but the French term describes words that sound the same but have different meanings). We feel that these gaps and misrecognitions in language, this residue left over when we try and translate the felt/visual in to words creates a confusing and anxious place, a place that we would like to circumvent by communicating telepathically.
But we keep getting drawn back into language as we try and grow our relationship (remember we have to develop this relationship so as to be able to practice telepathy) making us both certain and full of doubt as we perform in relation to each other.
Our relationship itself is becoming as much the work as the actual telepathy sessions and documents.
Henceforth every thing that we do in relation to each other can be considered part of our praxis.
